Wriggly Readers at Loughborough Library for 0 - 4 years old (parent or carer required)

Wriggly Readers takes place at Loughborough Library three times a week - Tuesdays at 10am - 10:30am; Thursdays at 2pm - 2:30pm and on the first Sunday of the month at 11:!5am - 11:45am. The two weekly sessions regularly attract around 48 babies and assorted todders, as well as Mums, Dads, Grannies, Childminders and Nursery Children. The Thursday afternoon sessions is (at the moment) quieter as it mainly caters for new(ish) babies and their carers although not exclusively. The Sunday session does more to attract families into the library. Some toddlers come with both their parents before lunch and others come to look at boks and change their books whilst the library is quieter.
The aim of Wriggly Readers which happen in virtually all Leicesstershire Libraries is to encourage a love of looking at books, a love of sharing stories and rhymes and singing nursery rhymes and action songs with the children and their carers. They try to make it all fun, not formal and certainly not quiet! The sessions are led by either a Surestart Worker, a Library Development Worker or a Customer Services Assistant and supported by at least one other person. All of the people involved have a degree of training and experience ranging from new staff to those who have been working with children for over 20 years.
