Hi, does anybody remember the name, or names of any of the local "free" papers that were available in loughborough back in the late 80s? Are they still up and running? And does the libarary has an archive of them? i'd like to track down some old articales that featured some old student pals, college work and other bits that, with highingsight, i wish i'd have cut out and kept. Thanks |

What was the other 'paid for' paper called that folded many moons ago? Loughborough Monitor rings a bell.

Yeah the mail has a ring to it too, there are micro films for the mail and i think the trader too in several local libaraies up to 1988 according to a local government web page...there's prints and micro- films going some way back too...the 1880s and beyond, for the more established local rags. I know the Echo has featured several pieces about the Art college but for some reason the free papers were covering Art/design projects too, I guess their remit was more to do with advertising, so i wonder if it was the college paying to have its courses gain more local exposure. Just a point, did the Echo ever produce a smaller "free" version of the main paid for issue? |
