fionaLoughborough has given the new Town Centre Initiatives Officer from Charnwood Borough Council a warm welcome and is looking forward to a bright summer thanks to her plans for the future.

Fiona Garrett, (27), is originally from Essex and has moved to Leicestershire to be with her partner, a police officer in Leicestershire Constabulary.

Fiona, who will split her working week between event management and town centre promotion and the Crime Out Of Loughborough (COOL) scheme, said: "The traders and retailers have given me a really welcome reception and its great that Im working for Charnwood Borough Council and COOL scheme " it allows me to join up the work and make a proper difference to the town.

COOL is designed to reduce crime in Loughborough and Fiona is responsible for holding intelligence meetings with members and partners to issue serial offenders with exclusion notices, banning them from the town.

Fiona previously worked as a Police Community Support Officer for Essex Police and is enthusiastic about the challenges of the job. She added: "I am also extending COOL to cover the night-time economy and will be liaising with the Councils Licensing service and licensees of nightclubs and pubs in Loughborough, to reduce associated crime and disorder within the town centre at weekends.

Adrian McInnes, Chair of the Loughborough Town Centre Partnership, said: "Fiona has already made an impression and her experience and enthusiasm will be a real boon to the Town Centre Team and we are all looking forward to working with her to promote the Loughborough Town Centre as the natural choice for shopping, leisure and business in the region.
