If you have ever phoned Charnwood Councils Loughborough offices you will find that bin issues is considered so important that it is placed on the main automated menu.
Figures just released by the Council show that the collection of waste is becoming more reliable.
As part of the Borough Councils monitoring of missed bin and bag collections, the figure for missed collections is on a downward turn with missed collections for June at one of the lowest since January and 17% lower than last year.
Neil Greenhalgh, Head of Environmental Services, said: "Each month Charnwood Borough Council makes 150,000 collections of rubbish, of which 109 are missed.
"Weve been working really closely with the contractor to crack down on missed collections because we know how frustrating they are!
"Weve put in place even more monitoring recently to improve this further including extra staff and systems to ensure when reports are made we attend to them quicker. In addition, we have been working closely with our contractor on customer training to ensure the public receive the best possible service"
The average missed bin per month for 2006-2007 was 131. The figure for the last Quarter (April - June) 2007-2008 was 109.
Cllr Mike Preston, Cabinet Member for Environment, added: "Missed collections are a bugbear of many residents and we are really trying to prioritise to make them more reliable.
