The Radmoor Road incident happened sometime between 10.55am and 12.45pm on Tuesday July 17, 2007 when thieves broke into the property and took cash that had been saved to pay various household bills and a number of items of jewellery.

Among the items taken were a gold wedding band with a leaf design, a gold ring with three diamonds, a solitaire engagement ring and a gold, plain wedding band with no engraving.

PC Anthony Wright from Loughborough LPU said: "Many of these rings were inherited and one was the victims mothers wedding ring and of huge sentimental value. Were therefore obviously keen to find the person or people responsible and return the stolen jewellery.

"Were asking people who may have been in and around Radmoor Road last Tuesday to think back and see if they remember anything that might be linked to this burglary.

"Did you witness any suspicious activity? Did you see and vehicles or people that seemed out of place?

"Wed also ask people to be alert to anyone selling similar items of jewellery, particularly jewellers or second hand shops. Any information you can give us could be important to the investigation so please do get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1204 Anthony Wright from Loughborough LPU on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in his identification number 1204.

The other Burglary occured at a home on Beaumont Road.

The incident happened between 11am and 11.55am on Wednesday July 18, 2007 when the elderly resident answered her door to a man who had fitted a door alarm a week earlier.

The man claimed to have lost the receipt for the work he had done previously and when inside the property, a second man knocked at the door claiming to be his friend. Whilst the victim was distracted by the second man, the first man ran from the property with the victims navy blue leather handbag, which contained a quantity of cash.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC Sheela Govind from Loughborough local policing unit said: "This was a very upsetting experience for the victim who has been left extremely shocked and distressed.

"Were appealing for anyone who remembers any suspicious activity around the Beaumont Road area between these times on Wednesday or who may have received a visit from someone selling alarms in similar circumstances to please get in touch.

"If you have any information regarding this incident or the people responsible, please contact us."
