writeathon for Charnwood Writers

Posted on 07/08/07

writingCharnwood Writers are giving local people the opportunity to record in a book their memories of their life in Charnwood.

It is not just old memories that the Charnwood Writers are interested in it could be new ones and people are invited to drop in for the Writeathon that is taking place at the library in Syston on the 11th September 2007 between 10am and 1pm.

Each person will have between 15 and 20 minutes to try to get their thoughts down on paper, so it is really less of a Writeathon and more a middle distance event! When the book is published a proportion of the proceeds will be donated to Rainbows Childrens Hospice in Loughborough.

Charnwood Writeres meet regularly at the library in Loughborough (Granby Street) every third Sunday at 1:45pm where they listen to each others work and provide each other with constructive criticism amongst other things. Five hundred pounds was awarded to the group earlier this year when they received the Astrazenica and Charnwood Arts Community Award which is making the current project possible.

Later this year Charnwood Writers hope to display local poetry for National Poetry. For those interested, the theme this year is Dream with the display in October.

The Library in Loughborough is open 7 days a week and located in Granby Street opposite Queens Park.
