A PROLIFIC fly-tipper has pleaded guilty to illegally dumping rubbish in two areas of Charnwood.
Steven John Bott, of Egerton Road, Leicester, admitted to two counts of contravening Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 when he appeared before Leicester Magistrates Court on Monday.
The court heard that the 30-year-old knowingly permitted controlled waste to be deposited on Blackberry Lane, Cossington, and to depositing controlled waste in Groby Road, Anstey.
Bott, who has previous convictions for fly-tipping, was caught after an in-depth investigation by Charnwood Borough Councils Environmental Crime Enforcement Officers.
The rubbish left on Blackberry Lane was taken from a clearance at a property in Knighthorpe Court, Loughborough, and included mattresses and other household goods.
Camping equipment, fridges, wood, metal frames and table were among the items found dumped in Anstey.
Chris Cary, Charnwood Borough Councils Senior Enforcement Officer, said: "This was the first fly-tipping case submitted to court for prosecution by the newly-formed Street Management Team.
"Environmental crimes such as fly-tipping will be actively pursued in order to prosecute offenders and send out a clear message that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated in Charnwood.
"Members of the public who witness such incidences are encouraged to come forward with information and call us in confidence on (01509) 634 657.
Cllr Mike Preston, Charnwood Borough Councils Cabinet member for Environment, added: "Its good to hear that again Charnwood Borough Council has delivered a great result for local people.
"The blight that this individual put on our local environment was disgusting and Im pleased he faced up to it, serving as an example to others who think that they may be above the law.
The case was adjourned so pre-sentence reports could be prepared and Bott was bailed to return to Leicester Magistrates Court on Monday, 3rd September.
