Special Constable from Loughborough is very special indeed

A Special Police Constable (SPC) at Loughborough police station has been highly commended in the Leicestershire Special Constabulary Award 2007 (Saville Cup).
SPC 5035 Terry Stone has been a special for five years, three in Shepshed and two in Loughborough, and is currently a Section Officer which is the equivalent to the role of Sergeant in the regular force. He works as a transport manager in Long Whatton during the day and volunteers to work one night shift and one day shift a week for the police.
The purpose of the award is to recognise the way in which Special Constables bring their abilities, talents and qualities to the assistance of the regular police and the community. SPC Terry Stone has been highly commended after being nominated by the Commander of Loughborough local policing unit, Inspector Mark Cuddihy, because of his outstanding contribution to the police in Loughborough. He will attend an award ceremony in the New Year and will receive £100.
Inspector Mark Cuddihy said; "Terry is an integral part of the police team at Loughborough and his contribution to policing this town is invaluable. He never says no when you ask him to do something and he always comes up with a solution to problems.
"It was his idea to allocate Special Officers to work on individual neighbourhoods to move the role away from being a purely reactive one to one that has more ownership and community involvement."
"As a Section Officer he is responsible for line managing the team of Specials here which he is very good at, he has great people skills and maximises everyones time. I am pleased that he has been highly commended he thoroughly deserves it."
SPC Terry Stone said; "I really enjoy the work that I do as a Special because it gives me a release from my day job. In the five years that I have been a Special I can honestly say that one shift has never been the same as another. You might go to a similar incident but the circumstances are always different and I love the variety of the work.
"There are fifteen Specials working from Loughborough police station and the regular officers treat us as equals."
Terry is married with two grown up children and he says his family are very supportive of the work he does for the police.
