Loughborough University Student Jeremy Metcalfe

Formula Renault UK race-winner Jeremy Metcalfe will make his Porsche Carrera Cup GB debut at Knockhill in Scotland next weekend, 1st/2nd September, as part of his prize for being a finalist in the 2006 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award.

Racing the VIP guest car, which is prepared by Porsche Motorsport, the 19-year-old from Fleet in Hampshire will make his competitive saloon car debut at the 1.27-mile Fife venue and he simply cant wait to take part in what is widely regarded as one of the UKs most prestigious championships.

The BRDC Rising Star, who is currently sixth overall in the Formula Renault UK Championship standings with two race wins and three podiums to his credit, is expected to take part in official pre-event testing at Knockhill on Friday, 31st August, before his full category debut the following day

"Im really looking forward to next weekend, said Jeremy, "Its a great opportunity to race such an awesome car in what is obviously an excellent championship and Im very grateful to Porsche GB for arranging this. Being a McLaren Autosport BRDC Award finalist last year was incredible and this is going to be a superb bonus.

Jeremys only prior experience of a 400bhp 911 GT3 Porsche Carrera Cup car came during last autumns track evaluations for the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award at Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk but the Knockhill race weekend will be an altogether different challenge for the Loughborough University Banking and Finance student.

"When I drove a Porsche in the McLaren Award it was certainly a hair-raising experience at first, a real eye-opener, but it was incredibly enjoyable, added Jeremy, "Id only ever driven a Formula Renault single-seater before then so it was something very new for me but Im hoping we can have a good run at Knockhill.

"Itll obviously be the first time Ive ever raced a saloon car and to do so at a difficult place like Knockhill will be a big challenge but one Im really looking forward to. Its going to be an awesome weekend, I cant wait.

Pre-event testing will take place at Knockhill next Friday, 31st August, with qualifying timetabled for 11.30 on Saturday, 1st September. The first of the weekends two 32-lap races, round 17, will follow at approximately 16.45. Race two, round 18 of the championship, is scheduled to get underway at 11.35 on Sunday, 2nd September.

Jeremy will then return to his regular AKA Cobra-run single-seater car on Wednesday, 5th September, at Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit for pre-event testing ahead of the 17th and 18th rounds of the Formula Renault UK season which take place at the Leicestershire venue on 8th/9th September.
