Warning Of Traffic Delays This Weekend
Posted on 21/09/07
P. Klein
At the beginning of this month there was an event at Donington Park which had unprecedented traffic. This caused a lot of delays and unfortunately some people missed their flight. In fact some people were even seen walking with their suitcases from the M1 roundabout to try to get to the airport on time. One of the inLoughborough team were on their way to the airport on the Sunday and it took about 2 hours to get there from Loughborough (and that journey time is no exaggeration).
This weekend sees the British Superbike Championships Round 12 being held at Donington Park where Ryuichi Kiyonari, Leon Haslam and Grgorio Lavilla will battle it out with 30 other riders.
Given the amount of people who will be wanting to attend this event the airport in conjunction with the organisers, the Police, Leicestershire County Council and the Highways agency have put in place measures to reduce the chaos that can be caused by large number of vehicles attending the venue.
However the airport is telling all passengers, visitors to the airport and staff to allow loads of extra times in getting to East Midlands Airport (EMA).
