Dragons hatch in Loughborough

Wouldnt it be nice if you ran a shop so that when your stock got a bit low new stock just appeared free of charge. Well thats almost what has happened at the Natural World Pet Shop in Market Street, Loughborough.

A couple of months ago one of the Bearded Dragons laid some eggs. Helen Beston, Manager of the Loughborough branch of Natural World immediately set up a special egg incubator to keep the eggs at the right temperature and humidity. Checks have been made several times a day recently and it was one evening Helen saw the face of a tiny Bearded Dragon looking up at her from near the remains of its egg.

Helen told inLoughborough: "I was absolutely amazed; we were starting to think that the female had laid unviable eggs, but to have something like this happen is really something special. To date four other eggs have hatched and they are all living happily sitting under their basking light in their new home. Their favourite foods seem to be crickets and waxworms.

Pictured are photographs taken at Natural World Pet Shop.

You can find a list of all Loughboroughs and Shepsheds Pet Shops (including Natural World) in our directory.
