Sophie Hannah

Tuesday night (25th September 2007) saw Sophie Hannah the top selling author at Loughborough Library.
Sophie, whose recent crime fiction novel Hurting Distance has been widely acclaimed, gave readings from the book to a packed audience who were captivated. But Sophie not only demonstrated the talents of putting on paper ideas brewed in her dark and criminal mind (her words, not mine) she also talked about how she researches to ensure the realism is, well, realistic.
The audience were also treated to some of her poetry and this together with anecdotes and stories of the inspiration behind her works, ranging from place names to chat up lines, made the evening both entertaining and intellectually stimulating (which isnt bad for Loughborough on a Tuesday night " but then that information is rather redundant to those that already live in Loughborough).
Organised by Kerry Featherstone, the literature development officer for Leicestershire, Sophies readings at the library in Loughborough saw the end of a Crime themed series where other authors such as Sally Spedding, John Martin and Joanne Reardon all came to give examples of their work and answer questions. Kerry informed inLoughborough that other events were being planned and we will inform you when they are finalised.
