Sword Dancing In Loughborough

women with swordTraditional English sword dancing will be happening in Loughborough on Saturday 6th October.

Local womens Rapper side Pleiades and fellow sword dancers, Whip the Cat, from Nottingham will be performing at pubs and other town centre locations in Loughborough including the Charnwood Museum.

Rapper is a form of traditional sword dancing from the mining communities of the North East of England. The rappers are flexible swords wit a wooden handle at each end which the dancers twist and flex to form complex patterns and shapes in a fast paced close-up dance.

Pleiades and Whip the Cat can be seen at the following venues:

  • 2.30pm Wetherspoons
  • 3.00pm Noodle Bar
  • 3.30pm Charnwood Museum
  • 4.15pm Crown & Cushion
  • 5.00pm Swan in the Rushes

(Pleiades will also be at the Whapweasel ceilidh at Loughborough Town Hall in the evening.)
