East Midlands House Prices
Posted on 06/10/2007
Loughborough Newsdesk
According to figures just released by the Land Registry, house prices in the East Midlands fell by 1.1% during August. This was the largest decrease in any region in the country and not very good news if you had just made an offer for a house.
For the 12 months up to the end of August prices in the East Midlands only grew by 5.6%, which is dwarfed by the likes of London and the South East that grew at 16.7% and 10.9% respectively.
However it may not be as bad as first appears for us in Loughborough, out of all the counties in the East Midlands, Leicestershire house prices grew by 0.6% in August. Just up the road in Nottinghamshire house prices fell by 0.1% and in Derbyshire the prices increased by 0.4%.
Nationally prices rose 0.2% during the month and the comments from the Land Registry were that it was "in line with the downward shift in growth rates that can be seen to have begun four months ago. In plain terms, prices are still going up, however the amount they are going up is smaller than prior to May of this year.
