crowd outside Loughborough Town Hall waiting to be let in for auditionsPeople who travel will no doubt have seen a copy of the Gideons Bible in their hotel or guest room. The Gideons, who were established in 1899 in the USA and 1949 in the UK are a non-denominational missionary arm of the Christian Church. Their aim is to share Gods message of salvation by placing Bibles where people can access them, be it in hotels, hospitals, schools, prisons or care homes.

Today (Wednesday 9th October 2007) saw the presentation of a Bible by the local Gideons to the Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Joe Tormey, at the Mayors Parlour at Loughborough Town Hall. Presenting the Bible were Alan and Margaret Warren and Michael and Pamela Frost.
