About Millie

Set in New York City in 1922, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" is based on the popular movie, starring Julie Andrews which tells the story of young Millie Dillmount. Millie, a girl from Kansas has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself, where she aims to transform herself into a Modern, with the express intent of marrying her wealthy boss.

Its a New York full of intrigue and jazz - a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behaviour were changing forever. Millies plans go awry when she meets the charismatic charmer, Jimmy, with whom she falls in love.

In New York, Millie meets Muzzy, a glamorous and well-connected cabaret star and also the mysterious Mrs Meers, who is an undercover criminal involved in the white slave trade.

Sounds serious? Not at all. This is a fast-moving comedy with hilarious misunderstandings and mishaps - but of course, as in all the best shows, everything sorts itself out and love triumphs. Relax, enjoy, and remember- THIS IS 1922!
