Ghosts at Charnwood Museum
Posted on 21/10/2007
P. Klein
There are some people who say that the Charnwood Museum, which used to be the towns public swimming pool, is haunted by the ghost of a swimmer and that you shouldnt go down there at night. The inLoughborough team dont believe in these rumours, however this week, if anyone goes down there this week during the day is sure of a big surprise - with ghosts and ghouls are on the prowl, they wont believe their eyes!
With Halloween coming up shortly, visitors to the Charnwood Museum in Loughborough will find it overrun with ghosts and goblins for the school holidays. All week there will be a ghost hunt that will involve going round the museum solving puzzles and clues.
If you have ever had the desire to turn your offspring into a pumpkin then the Pumpkin Patch on Tuesday 23 October is the workshop for you.
Alternatively if you would prefer to take home your little monster with the face of a ghost, goblin, witch or wizard then take them to the Spooky Masks workshop on Thursday 25 October.
The ever popular Zoolab is back again. inLoughborough has previously been down to the museum for these and they really are popular. Strangely its the adults that tend to be more frightened of the animals than the children. So if you have the guts to handle a snake, a rat or a cockroach then go to the Zoolab sessions on Wednesday 24 and Friday 26 October. O.K. " you can sit terrified in the corner whilst your child holds and strokes a snake if you really must.
On Saturday 27 October a new series of workshops start looking at the changing seasons in Queens Park in Loughborough. Four Seasons: Autumn will help the whole family create art works for including in nature diaries using a variety of art and craft methods.
All the workshops are aimed at children aged 3 and above with the exception of the Four Seasons Workshop which is aimed at children aged 8 +. All children must be accompanied by an appropriate adult. Places are limited and must be booked and paid for in advance - phone Charnwood Museum on 01509 233754 or call into the museum in Queens Park, Loughborough to book your place.
