We have reported back in July on specimen planting schemes that have appeared in Loughborough and how the County Council were seeking peoples views as to which were the preferred options for duplication throughout the rest of Loughborough.

The example schemes were planted at the Alan Moss roundabout, the Beacon Road roundabout and the verges around the Beacon Road roundabout.

Almost 100 people expressed their views and the County Council has taken these views on board and will be adding roses to prominent flower beds throughout the town and also add more screening and tree planting around the verges on Epinal Way.

Nicholas Rushton, Deputy Leader of Leicestershire County Council with responsibility for Highways, said: "Weve received some excellent feedback and I would like to thank all those who gave comments for taking the time.

Planting in the new flower beds will occur during November of this year so that the plants will be established for next spring and summer.

Prospective Loughborough Conservative MP, Nicky Morgan who has previously called for people to express their views to the Council (pictured) told inLoughborough: "Im delighted that the County Council will be responding to the many local demands for really colourful displays.  The flowerbeds should provide a warm welcome for the towns visitors and residents alike and I look forward to seeing them blooming."
