Santas arrive in Loughborough

santas arrive in LoughboroughNine Santa Clauses sleighed in to the Market Place in Loughborough this morning to let shoppers know what Christmas has in store for them this year.

Members of the Rotary Club of Loughborough donned Santas official uniform to help inform shoppers about what Charnwood Borough Council has in store for them over the xmas period leading up to the festive holidays and to publicise the Santa Fun Run. Even Loughboroughs world famous (infamous?) Sockman got in on the act to help the promotion.

The Rotary Club members (Dick Howard, David Hollins, David Cound, david Smith, Andy, Ben, Matt and Ollie Jervis and Peter Smith) were joined today by Anne Marie Rennie from Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness who will be responsible for the warm up at the Universitys athletics track immediately before the fun run starts on Sunday 9th December 2007.

The Santa Fun Run will benefit a variety of local charities, including Loros, Ruby Rainbow Appeal, Steps and other local Rotary Charities. If you enter a team then you can also specify the charity of your choice.

Charnwood Borough Councils programme kicks off at the Christmas Lights Switch On held on Sunday, 25 November at 1pm. There will be a special staged perform with local acts as well as the finals of the X-Factor competition, Charnwoods Got Xmas Talent. Childrens rides, a grotto and the usual festive fun will culminate with the switch on by a well-known surprise celebrity character.

We have added other events in our calendar if you didnt manage to pick up one of the flyers in the town centre today.
