Apotex Scorpio Motorsport name driver

Kieren Clark has been named the new driver to race with Loughboroughs Apotex Scorpio Motorsport team for this years Formula Renault UK Winter Series. The series starts at nearby Castle Donnington at the start of November.

The Winter Series of Formula Renault is seen as a stepping stone into the highly prestigious Formula Renault UK championship, which supports the incredibly popular British Touring Car races, and from which many recent Formula 1 drivers have emerged, such as Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, and Heikki Kovalainen.

The Winter Series sees no fewer than 14 nationalities of drivers in the full to capacity 32 car grid, all looking to make the transition into the prestigious UK Series next year. All eyes will be on them to spot the future rising stars.

The Loughborough based Apotex Scorpio Motorsport team have just completed a highly successful season in the British Touring Car supporting series, as 3rd highest points scoring entrants and their number 1 driver, "BRDC Rising Star Will Bratt, finishing 3rd in the Formula Renault UK drivers championship.

Kieran said "its great to have a team of Apotex Scorpios experience behind me, it will push me onto the next level. They are a great team and its easy to fit in with them. Ive learnt a huge amount from this year, with my family running the car, but next year is going to be another huge step and we need to be at the same level as the front running professional teams.

"We can do this with Apotex Scorpio and Im looking to show this in the Winter Series competition.

Kieren will be partnered in the Apotex Scorpio team by Japanese driver Sho Hanawa.

The Formula Renault Winter Series will take place on the first 2 Saturdays of November, and each race day will consist of 1 qualifying session and 2 races.

Dates are

Donnington Park, Midlands - 3rd November

Croft, North Yorkshire - 10th November.
