Leicestershire House Prices

votingFigures just released by the Land Registry have shown that house prices in the East and West Midlands fell during September.

Nationally house prices rose by 0.4% during the month, however in the East Midlands prices actually fell by 0.2%. The largest rise was seen in Yorkshire and London ( +2.0% and +1.1% respectively).

This follows on last months fall in the East Midlands of -1.1%. For the 12 months up to the end of September 2007 house prices in the East and West Midlands showed an increase of 5.1 and 4.1% - the lowest growth in the country.

Looking at Leicestershire and the monthly change give a little more room for optimism to Loughborough residents with Leicestershire house prices increasing by 0.3% in the month. However there was no change in house prices in Nottinghamshire (0.0%) and Derbyshire fell by 0.2%

Nationally, the number of dwellings being sold fell considerably. Figures just released for July 2007 shows that the number of properties sold fell by 12% on the same period as last year. However the number of properties under £250,000 being sold was hardest hit showing a reduction of 16.7%.
