brush, loughboroughThe Anglo-American Brush Electric Light Corporation which was established in 1879 in Lambeth, London, to make the most of the inventions of Charles Francis Brush, however, with the need to expand they bought the Falcon Engine and Car Works in Loughborough and gradually all production was moved here.

Loughborough Library at present has an exhibition outlining Brushs long history. Photographs, articles and artefacts, including model engines and Brush commemorative ties, can be viewed.

The items on display in the exhibition are a combination of library materials and personal belongings of two of the librarys volunteers, Brian Bentley and Gerald Berrington. These two hard-working volunteers have created this interesting exhibition. Both have a long association with the Brush Company, Gerald especially, who worked there for 25 years.

Customer Services Librarian Lisa Watson said: "The exhibition looks great, and has already proved popular with visitors to the library. We have about a dozen people who work with us to improve the Local Studies collections, who are very passionate about what they do, and this exhibition is a perfect example of how hard they work, and what they can achieve. We are very lucky to have such active volunteers working with us.
