Wayne Robertson, 29, who lived in Russell Street, also denied the charges of causing or allowing the death of the infant and two counts of child cruelty. His daughter, Lila Robertson, died aged 10 weeks on Tuesday 14th November 2006 after being admitted to Leicester Royal Infirmary with a brain injury on the previous Sunday.

Shaffreen Khan, 24, of Alan Moss Road, Loughborough, is also charged with the murder, she is expected to enter a plea later. She told BBC reporters shortly after the death of her child that "I am finding it hard to come to terms with the loss. This is a particularly difficult time for me and I ask that the media respect my privacy and allow me to grieve in peace."
