old personLeicestershire Constabulary in Loughborough and the rest of Charnwood are working alongside other agencies such as Age Concern and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue to provide a single source of information to villagers in the borough.

The Signal Bus run by Age Concern will offer people the chance to get information from the specialists on fire safety, crime prevention and other relevant useful information.

The bus, divided into areas resembling a regular home so that people can see the use of the information and safety devices on display. Also available will be free smoke detectors from the fire and Rescue service. Paul Speight from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue said that they like having the opportunity to do prevention work rather than having to fight a real fire.

Talking about Charnwoods Local Policing Units involvement Inspector Cathy Yallop said: "My officers are keen to meet as many people as possible and, with this facility; they are able to jointly welcome people of all ages on board to find out how they can help themselves, their friends or relatives. The fear of crime troubles all age groups and my staff will help to find ways of reassuring residents. Officers will be available to hear concerns and offer crime prevention devices, such as window locks and alarms, as well as advice."
