Posted on 12/11/2007
P. Klein
Detectives from Loughborough local policing unit are appealing for witnesses after three men were robbed in Loughborough.
The incident took place at about 8.35pm on Saturday November 10 in Steeple Row, Loughborough. The three victims were sitting in a blue Citroen Saxo car when they were approached by a group of five men who demanded cash and property from them.
The three victims refused and then the offenders then smashed the driver side window and stole two mobile telephones, cash and a bank card from the victims.
The driver of the vehicle was also assaulted during the incident and received minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.
The five offenders, who were all white and in their 20s to early 30s, then made off towards the town centre and Church Gate.
DC Claire Reid is investigating the incident, she said: "Although the victims were not seriously injured during the incident they have been left extremely shocked and distressed by it. We know the Steeple Row and Church Gate area of Loughborough was very busy around the time of the incident and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or knows who the offenders may be to contact us.
"The stolen bank card was found discarded in Market Place in Loughborough, were you in this area during the evening of Saturday November 10 and did you see a group of men acting suspiciously? If so, please contact the police as the information you provide may assist us with our enquires."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 4270 Reid at Loughborough local policing unit on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 4270.
