Police Officers from our local area are appealing for public help after £1,000s of pounds worth of camera equipment was stolen from Loughborough.

A house in Alan Moss Road, Loughborough was broken into sometime between 2pm and 11.20pm on Friday 5th October 2007 and specialist waterproof and underwater equipment was stolen.

Amongst the property stolen was a Canon EOS 300D digital camera, a Sony DCR-DVD Handycam camcorder, a standard Horizon VHF hand held marine radio, Canon camera lens, Velbon DV-700 camera tripod and a number of mini DVDs.

PC Andrew Hitchcox is investigating the incident, he said: "The equipment stolen belongs to a water safety charity project and the mini DVDs contain irreplaceable footage which was shot whilst the owners were on tour and was due to be used to produce a documentary regarding water safety.

"I would urge anyone who knows anything about the stolen property or has seen some mini DVDs discarded in the area to contact the police.  We would also like to speak to anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in or around the Alan Moss Road area or knows who the perpetrators may be.  Any information no matter how insignificant it may seem could assist with our enquiries."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 943 Hitchcox on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 0943.  Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
