Andy Reed MP yesterday launched a competition for all junior football clubs in the constituency to win £400 worth of Football Foundation (the UKs largest sporting charity) and Nike football kit for their team.
The Loughborough MP who is a keen sportsman regularly playing rugby at weekend, has been given a £400 voucher as part of the new deal struck between Nike and the Football Foundation.
Reed says he would like to give the kit to the local team who would benefit most from it.
Reedtold inLoughborough: "I want to hear from any junior club, or adult disabled club, who really needs a new kit. I want a paragraph explaining why your team deserves the £400 and what difference it would make to getting more people involved in football. I will judge the best entry before Christmas and present the Voucher to the winners as Christmas present!
The aim of this scheme is to support Under 18 teams and also adults with disabilities by providing free kit and/or sports equipment worth up to £400. The voucher can be exchanged with Nike. Schools can only obtain one grant every three years. Clubs may apply for two vouchers in every three year period, however the proviso is that one application is for a girls team, and the other is for a boys team.
