Andy Reed, Loughborough MP

Loughborough MP Andy Reed last week took part in a charity football tournament at Wembley Stadium raising money for disadvantaged children and young people.

The Microsoft Charity Cup helped raise over £54,000 for the Wooden Spoon charity.

The Charities Agency team won the final 1-0 against the Wooden Spoon team of ex-rugby professionals (and sports presenter John Inverdale).

Reed said:

"I was delighted to help raise money for such a good cause. Wooden Spoon help many disadvantaged children and young people across the UK, and I have been a long term supporter of the charity.

"It was also quite an experience to play at the new Wembley stadium, it is a massive improvement on the old stadium, even if it was the night after Englands shock exit at the hands of Croatia!

"Although the MPs didnt manage to get to the final, it was good to see ex-England and Tigers Number 8 Dean Richards save a last minute penalty in that game for the Wooden Spoon team " even if they did still lose 1-0. It seems Deano is a hero whatever sport he plays!
