Andy Reed MP today welcomes the UK Youth Parliament new manifesto and supports the growth and development of the youth parliament as way to get young people engaged with politics. The UK Youth Parliament has elected representatives from across the country elected by peers, anyone between 11-18yrs can vote or be elected and they represent an area like MP’s. With over 500 elected Youth Parliament Members they engage with issues, produce policy recommendations and work with MP’s on issues affecting young people today.

Reed believes the youth parliament is a great way of getting young people involved and educated about politics. With the growing number of people hearing about the youth parliament Reed support the idea and welcomes its new updated manifesto of issues that young people feel passionate about.

Reed says

“I am supporting this as it gives a great chance for young people to become involved in politics and opens an opportunity for them to learn about Parliament and the way our system works.

I have arranged a day when our local Loughborough Youth Member will be spending it with me looking at issues young people want raised. I very much support this idea and hope to be able to work with local young people to raise concerns that affect them.”
