Time at Charnwood Museum
Posted on 15/01/2008

Keep an eye on the time with your own handmade clock. Join Charnwood Arts’ very own Punk artist Jon Williams at the ‘Time For A Change’ workshop on Saturday 19 January to create your own timepiece.
This season’s ArtZone workshops at Charnwood Museum continue with an opportunity to create your own clock. Participants are asked to bring along pictures of their favourite animal, vehicle or even a self portrait to use as inspiration. Artist Jon Williams will then guide participants into creating their own ticking masterpiece. All materials will be provided.
Jon Williams works for Charnwood Arts, mainly with young people. He graduated from Wolverhampton University in 2000 with a first class honours degree in ceramics and has received the Craftline award for excellence in ceramics. He also publishes an acclaimed comic/fantasy autobiography called ‘Tales Of The Sidewalk’.
The “Time For A Change”” workshop forms part of a series of creative workshops for children aged 8 to 14 years held at Charnwood Museum by professional artists. Each week participants can explore different craft and art forms amongst their peers with the assistance of experts but without having to be accompanied by their parents or carers. The workshop series covers a huge variety of techniques from clock making to animation. Workshops take place on Saturday mornings in school term times from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Workshops cost £5 per child including materials. Concessions £2.50 for families in receipt of means tested benefits. Workshop places must be booked and paid for in advance. Contact the museum on 01509 233754 to reserve your place or email charnwood@leics.gov.uk for further details.
Charnwood Museum is in Queens Park in the centre of Loughborough and is open from 10am – 4.30pm Monday to Saturday and 1pm-4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Admission is Free.
Charnwood Museum is run as a partnership between Leicestershire County Council and Charnwood Borough Council.
