Loughborough MP Andy Reed has welcomed news that a local school will be given specialist status this week.
Hind Leys Community College in Shepshed will be given Specialist Arts status on Friday – and is among 87 schools being designated to operate as specialist schools from September, taking the total number of specialist schools to 2886 (88% of all eligible state secondaries).
Loughborough MP Reed said:
“I am delighted that Hind Leys Community College will be receiving Specialist Status in the Arts. Hind Leys already makes a massive contribution to children in Shepshed, Kegworth, Castle Donington and the surrounding area.
“I will be writing to the school to congratulate them on their achievement and look forward to supporting them in their progress in this exciting initiative.”
A full list of successful schools will be published on the DCSF Press Notice website at www.dcsf.gov.uk/pns/newslist.cgi on the 1st February.
