BARGAIN hunters in and around Loughborough can be quids in by taking advantage of a Wild offer to help youngsters get active without breaking the bank or taking out a second mortgage.

Charnwood Borough Council is now slashing the price of its popular Wild Card Leisure pass to only £1.50 between February 1 and March 31 – which equates to a 50 per cent reduction on the normal price of £3.

Furthermore that’s not the only saving available for young people aged between five and 16-years-old as Wild Card holders will receive fantastic discounts off Charnwood’s fun-packed February Half-Term Holiday Activity Programme.

A wide-range of exciting sporting activities – including climbing, badminton, Kwik Cricket, mini soccer, trampolining and a golf academy day – has been arranged by the Council to keep young people entertained between February 11th and 18th 2008.

By purchasing a reduced-price Wild Card before booking a place on the golf academy day would save parents a total of £8, while there are a number of other offers available.

The Wild Card also gives special discounts at Loughborough Leisure Centre, Soar Valley Leisure Centre, South Charnwood Swimming Pool as well as more than 50 tourist and leisure attractions across the East Midlands.

Will Blanche, Charnwood Borough Council’s Senior Active Recreation Officer, said: “The Wild Card is the ticket to experiencing fantastic activities at discounted rates.

“There are so many money-saving offers available throughout the year that the Wild Card does encourage people to make a positive use of their leisure time.

“At only £1.50 it’s a bargain not to be missed, especially if you are thinking about booking places on the February Half-Term Holiday Activity Programme.”

The Wild Card, which is valid for one year, is free if children receive free school meals and can also be purchased by people of any age with a disability.

Cllr Peter Lewis, Conservative councillor for Loughborough Nanpantan and Charnwood Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Leisure, added: “I’m particularly pleased that youngsters with disabilities should have this opportunity. This Borough is working hard to ensure nobody is ever excluded.

“That all young people need to be active and engaged is obvious – but that it can be all is sometimes forgotten. The Half-Term Activity Programme has something for everyone so come on and get moving!”
