Made in Leicestershire is a new free web directory run by Creative Leicestershire to showcase quality visual art and craft made in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Whatever your budget, youll find plenty of choice ranging from small gifts to collectable items and larger pieces for your home or garden. Many of the makers and artists will take commissions too - ideal for celebrating a special occasion or creating a special memory. And if you live locally, you can actually see some of the artists at work or visit their galleries - and learn the intriguing stories behind their work. Amongst the artists from the Loughborough and Charnwood areas are David Wright who works in Ceramics, Jon Williams (Ceramics and Sculpture), William Walsh (Photography), Jo Sheppard (Painting), Rod Shaw (Painting), Carol Holt (Painting), Teresa Cole (Painting) Jan Bowman (Sculpture and Textiles), Kate Bajic (Jewellery) and Carly Allen-Fletcher (Painting).
The project is funded by Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, Rutland County Council, Blaby District Council, Charnwood Borough Council, Harborough District Council, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council, Melton Borough Council, North West Leicestershire District Council, Oadby & Wigston Borough Council, and Arts Council England.
Whether youre looking for something unique for your home or garden, a present idea with a difference or simply a special treat - youll find so much to inspire you in the exciting work being created in and around the county including:
jewellery, textiles, ceramics, glass, sculpture, furniture, photographs, paintings, drawing and prints and more.
