Police Beat Surgeries
Posted on 17/02/2008
P. Klein

The Loughborough University police beat team are going to be holding a series of surgeries in the town for local people to help combat the crime hotspots (pictured above). Crime in Loughborough is centred arround the town centre and also on the University campus. Students typically pose an easy target for criminals as they are young people away from home for the first time and although they have little property it tends to be high value, portable and saleable items e.g. mobile phones, ipods and laptop computers. Consequently the police are carrying out an initiatives to help prevent students become the victims of some of the less than desireable residents of the town.
A surgery in Loughborough will be held on Wednesday February 20, 2008 at the Student Advice Centre, Student Union building, Loughborough University, Ashby Road.
PCSO Clare Mant, part of the neighbourhood team, said: "These surgeries are designed for members of the local community to come along and discuss any local issues people have.
"These surgeries are very important as they enable us to hear about the issues that really matter to residents which means we can then work together to look at ways we can tackle them."
