Pedestrian dies after collision on Forest Road in Loughborough

Officers from Leicestershire Constabularys road policing unit are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian died following a collision in Loughborough.
The collision occurred at about 2.26am on Sunday February 17 in Forest Road, Loughborough and involved a pedestrian and a green Volkswagen Vento.
The pedestrian, Mr David Peter Collins (18) of Loughborough, received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger in the vehicle were not injured.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
PC Jon Bateman is investigating the collision, he said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the pedestrian or vehicle beforehand to contact me. Although the VW Vento is registered as a green vehicle it may appear dark blue to passers-by.
"I would also like to speak to anyone who saw or was with Mr Collins during Saturday night in Loughborough. Any information, no matter how small, could assist with our enquiries."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 930 Bateman in Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 0930. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
