Loughborough Crime Figures
It’s good news for the residents of Loughborough. The latest figures for January 2008 show that crime in Loughborough is down compared to January last year.
Over all the categories of violence against the person, criminal damage, theft, burglary, robbery or sexual offences the number of reported incidents are down.
Overall there were 592 recorded offences last month compared to 801 the previous year. Impressively the number of detected offences – the crimes where the police have identified a suspect and have made them aware that they will be recorded as being responsible for the crime has increased. Last January there were 144 detected offences compared to 196 this January.
It is good news on the year to date figures as well. Since April 2007 there have been 6404 recorded offences compared to 7386 in the same period of the previous year. However the cumulative detected offences since April 2007 have decreased from 1777 in the previous year to 1541 this year.
No doubt there are many reasons for this decrease, ranging from simply a lower crime rate. However it could also be that less crimes are being reported.
