FIRMS can pick up free, expert advice at a special business event being held in Charnwood next month.
The North Charnwood Business Forum has been jointly organised by Charnwood Borough Council, Loughborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce, LATI and LeicesterShire Networks and takes place at Longcliffe Golf Club, Snells Nook Lane, Nanpantan, Loughborough on Thursday, March 13th at 6.30pm.
It has been arranged following the success of the South Charnwood Business Forum held last year and there will be a number of keynote speakers attending with talks from:
• The East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA) discussing Accessing Finance, which will cover funding available from start up right through to development capital;
• Advice and help on how to sell your products and services abroad will be the theme of UK Trade and Investment’s (UKTI’s) presentation.
• Loughborough Chamber of Trade and Commerce discussing its influential position in the local community on all issues relating to business;
• Representatives from networking and business support organisation Leading Advanced Technology and Innovation (LATI) talking about high-tech and scientific business;
There will also be a number of displays on grants business support and mentoring, business start-up advice, disaster planning, networking, a prize draw and refreshments.
Ray Hurst, Charnwood Borough Council’s Economic Development Officer, said: “This is a great opportunity to network with other businesses in the area.
“Our speakers this time will focus on exporting goods and the latest funding news from the East Midlands Development Agency will also be on hand.”
Firms will have the opportunity to sign up to the Charnwood Business Directory on the Borough Council’s comprehensive business website – www.charnwoodbusiness.com – at the forum.
More than 3,000 companies have already signed up to the free online directory, which allows businesses to edit your own site plus add pictures, text and links to external websites.
It is proving to be extremely popular with more than 170,000 hits a month – and a total of 5,400 individuals visited the site in January 2008.
Cllr Stephen Hampson, Charnwood’s Cabinet member for Regeneration, encouraged firms across the Borough to take advantage of the free service available on charnwoodbusiness.com
He added: “The site has grown well beyond expectations and now has great support from business users and residents – not only in Charnwood but across Leicestershire.
“It’s not just for businesses however as the directory lists goods and services making it a one-stop shop for residents as well.
“It has been a huge success and I would encourage anyone not already signed up to it to consider doing so.”
The Forum is open to all North Charnwood businesses but visitors need to pre-book their places at the event.
To register, email business.info@charnwood.gov.uk or call Charnwood’s Economic Regeneration Team on (01509) 634 534 or 634 727.
