Nicky Morgan, Loughboroughs Prospective Conservative MP has welcomed the news that the Planning Inspector has refused the appeal by Domain Baxtergate which had applied to build over 600 student bedrooms on the former Loughborough hospital site.
Nicky said, "This is the right decision for Loughborough. We do not need more student bedrooms, we need family homes to revitalise the centre of our town. I would like to congratulate everyone, particularly local residents and Charnwood Council, who stood firm against this unwelcome application. As someone whose home looks over the site I was appalled by the plans which would have been detrimental to Loughborough and made the site inaccessible for residents. Now we have a real opportunity to use this key site for the benefit of everyone living in and using Loughborough."
