Charnwood CCTV Concerns

CCTV camera

What used to be used to remotely monitor traffic or high security installations has become part of everyday life. During a 10 minute walk around Loughborough it is possible to be caught on over 30 CCTV cameras, run by both companies or Charnwood Borough Council.

The explosion of CCTV surveillance in the UK now means that there is 1 camera for every 14 people. The UK now has proportionally more cameras than any other country in Europe, the USA or even Russia. There is a consensus that the explosion of CCTV has been fueled and made more acceptable by the fear of terrorist activity, however the London tube bombers were aware of the CCTV cameras, were caught on them, but still carried out their attacks.
