Non-stop road traffic collision in Loughborough

Police are appealing for witnesses after a non-stop collision in Loughborough.

The collision occurred at about 10.10am yesterday (Thursday April 25, 2008) on Moor Lane near to its junction with Russell Street and involved a black car and a pedestrian. The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and made off in the direction of Wharncliffe Road.

The pedestrian, a woman in her eighties, received leg injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary where her condition is currently described as stable.

PC Emma Gadd of Loughborough local policing unit, said: "The collision took place during a busy time and there may been a number of people in the area. We believe the car was parked on Moor Lane prior to the collision and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who knows the identity of the driver to contact us.

"We would also ask for the driver of the car to come forward."
