Opening of International Day at Loughborough University

Today, 30th April 2008, saw the Students Union transformed into an arena just as culturally diverse as the United Nations and certainly a lot more friendly.

For the tenth year running the International Students Association set up a trully global village to demonstrate their countrys heritage, national costume and tasty delicacies.

The event was opened by the Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr. Joe Tormey and was also attended by Mike Jones, leader of Leicestershire County Council and his wife Marj.

Approximately 40 different nationalities were represented who presented their food, drinks, artefacts, music, souvenirs and many other features from their culture and enabled them to talk to native students of theses countries about where they were from.

The constant flow of visitors from University and Local community ensured that the event was extremely busy.
