Appeal to trace second suspect after theft in Loughborough

Police have charged a man in connection with an incident of theft from a church in Loughborough.

The incident happened at around 5.40pm on Sunday April 20, 2008 when a candle stand charity box was stolen from St Mary's Church on Ashby Road in Loughborough.

A 26-year-old man has been charged with theft and is due to appear at Loughborough Magistrates Court on May 9, 2008.

Officers are still keen to trace a second suspect who made off from the scene. He is described as white, aged about 27-years-old, of stocky build and with fair hair.

PC David Phillimore, from Loughborough local policing unit, said: "We would to thank two members of the public who alerted us to the incident and assisted in apprehending one of the suspects. I'd like to pay tribute to them for their prompt actions and their co-operation.

"If you have information with regard to the identity of the second man, please get in touch with us."
