Thomas in Loughborough for Bank Holiday Fun
Posted on 20/05/2008
P. Klein

The cheeky blue tank engine with a loyal army of fans is at the Great Central Railway in Loughborough this bank holiday weekend (24th/25th 26th May 2008). Thomas will be coming along to Leicestershire with Daisy the diesel railcar, Sir Topham Hatt (the Fat Controller) and other friends from the ever popular stories.
The event is themed around Thomas and his miniature friends. There will be a chance to ride on a miniature railway at Quorn and also a half sized traction engine. Thomas himself will be at Loughborough under the watchful eye of the Fat Controller.
“It’s great to see smiling happy faces waving from the trains at Thomas time,” said Lynn Hill the Great Central’s marketing assistant. “We’re going to have entertainers, puppets and songs, plus a face painter, childrens rides and competitions. It should be a really special three days where the whole family can relax and enjoy themselves.”
Meanwhile the GCR is opening its new tea room for the first time during the weekend. A Victorian former grain store at Rothley station has been carefully converted to provide a relaxing café where visitors can watch the trains roll past.
