Prospective Conservative MP for Loughborough, Nicky Morgan, visited Loughborough Universitys Student Union last week to offer her support to Chinese students studying at the university who had organised various stalls and events to raise money for victims of the recent earthquake in China. The disaster, which struck earlier this month, has already claimed tens of thousands of lives in and around the Sichuan Province and local students are determined to do all they can to help.

After the visit Nicky said "I, like most people, have been horrified by the tragedy in China. This catastrophe has killed thousands and left countless more homeless. Loughborough has strong links with China and Sichuan is the sister province of Leicestershire. I am so proud that local students from our town have helped contribute to the massive aid effort currently underway. I was delighted to support them."
