An all day event concerning the Development of Extended Services for children and young people available in Charnwood was held at Loughborough Town Hall last week.

‘Moving towards Integrated Services’ was a chance for stakeholders to meet and discuss the Leicestershire Extended Services Strategy, with presentations being given and workshops held throughout the day.

The aim was to inform the strategic direction of Extended Services and to encourage partnership working in the Borough so that the needs of children, young people and their parents/carers are met.

Councillor Jane Hunt, Charnwood Borough Council’s Champion for Children and Young Persons, said: “The day was very useful for everyone concerned and will ensure that we are all pulling in the same direction. Charnwood Borough Council is keen to support the development of services for children and young people around the area and this meeting really helped to outline what is planned for the future.”

Ivan Ould, Leicestershire County Councils Cabinet Member for the Children and Young People’s Service, said: “This kind of event generates an enormous amount of discussion about the kind of activities needed in and around Leicestershire schools.

“It’s good to see the breadth of people and organisations who want to be involved in developing facilities for Children and Young People.”

The event, for representatives of agencies with an interest in helping to shape the delivery of Children’s Centres and Extended Schools in Charnwood identified and prioritised the issues and needs of local children and young people.

Stakeholders met at Loughborough Town Hall on Tuesday 20th May at 9am to commence with the programme.
