Garendon High School Enterprise Day 6th June 2008
Posted on 10/06/2008

Students at Garendon High School in Loughborough recently swapped usual lessons for an Enterprise Day organised by Leicestershire Education Business Company (LEBC). Teams competed for the title of Most Enterprising Company, by taking on various roles within their own mini-businesses, making innovative origami ducks. Volunteers from local businesses supported the day by joining the students to guide and inspire them in their activities.
Ysolina Arvelo of ISES Consultants Ltd said: “These events offer the opportunity of using your skills and experience in a different environment and to learn new things. I learnt from the activities, the students and also from LEBC staff.” Other volunteers included representatives from Astrazeneca, Taste of India and 3M Healthcare.
Lucy Wake, Projector Co-ordinator for LEBC, commented after the event: “The day was really successful, with a lively atmosphere and tremendous commitment and enthusiasm shown by the students to the activities. We were particularly grateful to our volunteers on the day for their participation and for taking the opportunity to share their experiences and expertise”.
One Year 9 student who took part, when asked if anything could have been improved on the day wrote; ‘Nothing at all! I loved every bit of it’!
More companies and organisations are required to support enterprise learning in schools, if you would like to discuss further please contact Lucy Wake at LEBC on 0116 240 7000.
