Loughborough MP Andy Reed paid a visit to the Dreamers Project at Mountfields Lodge last Friday. The group had visited Andy at Westminster earlier in the year and he agreed to spend more time listening to their stories back in the constituency.

Andy met and sat with many of the young people from the group as well as being challenged to a game of table tennis!

The Dreamers group is made up of young adult asylum seekers and Andy was keen to hear how they were getting on with life in Loughborough.

Andy Reed said:

“It was really good to meet with the young people involved in the Dreamers Project last week. I was really touched by their stories when they visited me in the House of Commons earlier in the year, so promised I would come and visit them as soon as I could.

“The stories of these young people, in many cases escaping persecution in their own countries, are very inspiring. It is also good to hear how well they are settling in Loughborough – and I hope in the UK we will always have the reputation of being able to offer sanctuary to those in genuine need so they can rebuild their lives.

“It was good to have some discussions whilst playing table tennis with the young people. It was really enjoyable. I never thought ping-pong diplomacy would come to Loughborough, but I guess in a way it has!”
