Andy Reed, Member of Parliament for Loughborough, yesterday (24th June 2008) spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast held in Westminster Hall. The Prayer Breakfast brings together Christians from across the country and across the globe. The theme this year was "Gods People Doing Good All Over the World"

Andy Reed interviewed Margaret Gordon who works with the homeless in Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan. Andy had visited Margaret and seen her work. Andy then spoke to a seminar about the importance of doing good works and loving our neighbours as ourselves wherever they are in the world.

The Loughborough MP said:

"The Prayer breakfast reminded us that people are giving selflessly to serve others all over the world. We should support them in their work and feel humbled that most of us are so self centred we no longer help our neighbours.

This is a real challenge to all of us. When you see and meet people who give up normal lives to serve others it puts us to shame. We are great at moaning in this country but not going out of our way to make things better for the common good all too often"
