Loughborough MP Chairs Debt Aid Trade Group Meeting on Undermining Development

Andy Reed yesterday (2nd July 2008) chaired a meeting of the All Party Debt, Aid & Trade Group on Undermining Development with an investigation into the impact of mining and extractive industries on development. The meeting brought together campaigners and resource extraction companies to look at the effects resource extraction and mining is having on developing countries.
Andy chaired the meeting which heard from mining firms as well as NGO’s campaigning in this area.
Andy said:
“It was good to bring together campaigners and the big companies to hear about the effects and what companies are doing to help developing nations.”
