Team GB Kitting Out Joined by Loughborough MP
Posted on 08/07/08

The MP for Loughborough joined the British Olympic team in Birmingham on Thursday to help kit out the athletes attending the Olympic Games in Beijing. Andy is working for 10 days with the British Olympic Association over the next year as part of an initiative for MPs to work in other sectors and see how they operate at ground level. The intuitive to get MPs involved saw Andy be part of the team helping to sort out the kit for the athletes.
The day consisted of the athletes being given all the kit they needed for the Olympics and Andy helped in that process to ensure that each individual received the correct kit in the correct size with the correct quantity.
Andy Reed said "This was an amazing day. The logistics of sending the team to Beijing are mind boggling. Even just for this kit there are 900 individuals with about 95 bits of kit to take. Nothing is left to chance. The BOA need to take away any distractions so that athletes can do what they do best- compete and win medals.
